 ---- Instructors ----

Craig Blackwell

Craig Blackwell started building boats when he was sixteen in Bay City, Michigan.  He served a five year apprenticeship to Gouge on Brothers, developers of West System resin, where he learned the fundamentals of lightweight, strong wood and composite construction.

He moved to Florida where he worked for Monteray Marine.  After working for Monteray, Craig moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he has lived for twenty-one years.  Once on the Outer Banks Creig went to work for Buddy Davis at Davis Boatworks and assisted him in changing from a frame style boat to a jig boat.  He then helped Davis build the first plugs and molds for the Davis 47 and 60 spot fishing boats.

In 1986, Creig went into business for himself.  For three years he did repair work.  In 1989 he established Blackwell Boatworks and started new construction.  Blackwell Boatworks build fishing boats ranging from 34 to 72 foot.  The boats vary from the very simple charter style to the very elaborate luxury yacht. www.blackwellboatworks.com
