Outer Banks Community Sailing Programming

The Outer Banks Community Sailing Program located at the boat shop on the Manteo Waterfront is an “on the water program” of The North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island . 

The youth program started in 2000 to make the adventure of sailing available to youth in Dare County.  Each year over 100 youth and adults learn to sail at the North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island.

Sailing helps instill teamwork, concentration, self confidence, and appreciation for nature all wrapped up in a fun and exciting package.  The program teaches youth ages 8 and older basic, intermediate and advanced sailing skills.

All instruction is based on US Sailing guidelines and taught by US Sailing certified instructors.  US Sailing is the governing body of the sport of sailing in the United Sates.

Our 2008 summer season begins on June 9th. 

Our coaches are experienced sailors and instructors all have been with the program for over three seasons.   Click a link below to find out more information on the programs we have available.
